The mattress that came with it had a cheap plastic cover that ripped within a couple weeks. It was also really noisy, which this one is not. We replaced it with this one which was for a much deeper mattress -- but, we inserted a 3" deep Memory Foam Mattress inside and it fit fine and made the bed ever so much more comfortable and protected the previously unprotected Memory Foam. Air out the vinyl cover for a couple days before putting on the bed.
