I had previously tried a vinyl cover, but it was noisy and uncomfortable. This cover is quiet and comfortable, as it is made of a cloth-like material that feels and looks somewhat like a regular bed sheet (not like a giant plastic garbage bag). It easily slides over a regular mattress or boxspring and zips up at one end, providing a seal that keeps out dust mites and bed bugs.
