These covers are very breathable and are made out of a woven material so you don't feel like you are sleeping on a plastic bag. These covers are NOT water proof (there are ones that are but they cost plenty more) they are water resistant and you wont even realize that you have them on. When putting it on make sure that you stand the mattress up and pull the cover down over the top like a shirt going over your head not from the bottom up like a pair of pants.
